ER is an American medical drama series created by Michael Crichton which became the longest running primetime medical drama in American television history. It was produced by Constant c Productions, Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Television, also distributed by Warner Bros. Television Distribution.
The series was aired on September 19, 1994 and concluded on April 2, 2009, lasting fifteen seasons and 331 episodes.
The show has spawned two related crossover series are Third Watch and Medical Investigation.

The show premiered on September 19, 1994 and uring its first year, "E.R." attracted an average of 19 million viewers per episode, becoming the years second most watched television show, just behind Seinfeld.
In the following two seasons (1995-1997), the series was the most watched show in North America.
For almost five years, "E.R." battled for the top spot against "Seinfeld", but after "Seinfeld" ended in 1998, "ER" became number one again.

"E.R." won 23 Primetime Emmy Awards, including the 1996 Outstanding Drama Series award, and received 124 Emmy nominations, making it the most nominated drama program in history and winning 116 awards in total.
